In 1640AD, Shak Mohammed Aliyar an Arabian trada who came to Ettayapuram to Sell perfumes served in the palace of Ettayapuram. Umaru Pulavar was born in the Hijri year g 1642AD in Rabi-al-award month crescent 14.
Uman Pulavar’s literary talents flourished under Kadikai Muthupulavar, a court poet of the Ettayapuram Jamin.
Umaru Pulavar stole the national light by winning a Literary debate with Vallai Varundhi a renowned poet from North India. Umaru Pulavar was than made the court poet of the Ettayapuram Jamin.
While Umaru was working on Seera Puranam, seethakarthi Marrakkayar a prominent trader, invited him to keezhakkarai and offered all help to complete the work.
Umarapulavar started to compose Seerapuranam with the blessings of prophet Mohammed Nabi After the unexpected death of Seethakaathi, Abul Kasim marakkaya 164 united umarupulavar to Parangepettai where the Seerapuranam was completed and enacted.
After completing, Seerapuranam, the most prominent and popular literary composition, Umarupulavar returned to Ettayapuram where he breathed his last on 1703 AD.
Amuthakavi Umaru Pulavar Manimandapam was constructed at a cost of Rs.22.50 lakhs in Ettayapuram, Tuticorin district and inaugurated on 29.10.2007.
