KANNIYATHENDRAL QUAID – E – MILLETH MUHAMMAD ISMAIL MANIMANDAPAM
Quaid – E – Milleth was born on 5th June 1896 in Pettai, Tirunelveli District to Moulvi K.T.Miakhan Rowthar and Mohideen Fathima. His Original name was Muhammad Ismail.
Quaid – E – Milleth obtained his education from Church Mission College and MDT Hindu College at Tirunelveli, and later at St. Joseph’s College, Trichy and Madras Christian College.
Quaid – E – Milleth Social work led him to politics. He involved in National Service and Religious Service without losing his Integrity and Honesty. Pandit Jawarharlal Nahru was well aware of this fact about Quaid – E – Milleth. He became the leader of the opposition in the Legislative Assembly when Chennai Presidency was not partitioned. When India was partitioned, Quaid – E – Milleth became the president of Indian Union Muslim League. He was a best friend of Mootharingnar Rajaji, Perunthalaivar Kamarajar and Perarignar Anna. Quaid – E – Milleth was born in Tamil Nadu. But He contested and was elected to the Loksabha from Manjeri Parliamentary Constituency, State of Kerala, three times in the year 1962, 1967 and 1971 as an IUML Candidate. Politics was not hobby to him but a Holy Mission. He was a Member of Parliament, when China declared War against India in the year 1962. He gave the major portion of his salary to War fund. He lived in Chrompet, Chennai, throughout his life time. His health Worsened when he went to parliament session and he breathed his last on 5th April 1972.
A Manimandapam was constructed by the Government of Tamil Nadu to Kanniyathendral Muhammad Ismail Sahib in Dams Annexure Road near Anna Salai, Chennai. The Memorial of Kanniya Thendral Muhammad Ismail Sahib in Wallaja Mosque Compound in Triplicane, honored with flower spread by the Government of Tamil Nadu, annually on 5th June, his birthday.
