Pattukottai Kalyanasundaram was born on 13th April 1930 at Senkapaduthankadu Village in Pattukottai taluk of Thanjavur district. His parents were Arunachalam and Visalakshi Ammal. He was the second son to this couple. Eldest was Ganapathi Sundaram. Another Sibling was a sister Vedhambal. He married Gowravammal and their son Kumaravel is presently working as Joint Director in Information and Public Relations Department.
Kavingnar Pattukottai Kalyanasundaram is a well-known Poet, Lyricist. He is the most popular Lyricist in 1950’s. He had penned some wonderful philosophy-tinged upbeat lyrics for revealing awareness on various social issues. He breathed his last in 08.10.1959 at the age of 29. His literary works were nationalized by the Government of Tamil Nadu in the year 1993. His first song for the film “Paditha Pen” gained an unmatched and unique response in the film Industry.
Pattukottai Kalyana Sundaram Manimandapam was constructed at a cost of Rs.22.55 lakhs in Muthupettai Road, Naadiyammalpuram, Pattukottai in Thanjavur.
As ordered by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Selvi J Jayalalithaa, the songs of the poet Pattukkottai Kalyana Sundaram are being played by installation of Audio equipments in Pattukkottai Kalyana Sundaram Manimandapam at a cost of Rs.1.40 lakhs.
