MUTHUTHANDAVAR (1525-1625) AD
Muthuthandavar was born in the clan of Isai Vellalar in Sirkazhi. He dedicated his kritis and padams to lord Nataraja. He composed several hundreds of kritis of which 80 are available. He was an early architect of the present day carnatic kriti formal He composed numerous kritis and padams on Lord Nataraja of Chidambaram. He lived for more than 80 years. He was inspired of by Manickavasagam.
MARI MUTHA PILLAI (1712-1787 AD)
Born in Tillaividangan near Chidambaram to Shaivite Pillai, he was a great Tamil Composer. He was one among the renowned poets of 18th century. He also composed several kritis and padams in praise of Lord Thillai Nataraja like Muthuthandavar. His kritis were in the form of 25, 17, Ragas. There are 170 songs in his composition ‘Varunapuri Kuravanji’ among which 33 are in the form of kritis. He composed several Prabandas visiting various thalas.
ARUNACHALA KAVIRAYAR (1711-1779) AD
Arunachala Kavirayar was born in a Shaivite family in Tillayadi Arunachala Kavirayar authored ‘Rama Nataka Kirtana’ based on the Ramayana at the age of 60 Arunachala Kavirayar’s One Single work, ‘Rama Nataka Kirtanas’ earned himfare and held in high severance by all Vidwans. His emmortal piece ‘En Pallikondeeraiya’ is very Popular with Sriranga Nathar as the thene of his opera.
Tamizhisai Moovar Manimandapam was constructed at a cost of Rs.1.51 crore in Nagapatinam District and inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Selvi J Jayalalithaa in 20.02.2013.
